This class will introduce you to Autodesk’s Fusion 360, a cloud powered 3D CAD/CAM design software that is free for students, enthusiasts, hobbyists and startups. No prior experience with CAD/CAM software is required.
We will go over basic controls and tools that will help you build 3D projects for fabrication. In the class we will be designing a simple box that can be cut out on a laser cutter and then a Raspberry Pi enclosure that can be 3D printed. Please bring a laptop with Fusion 360 installed and a mouse.
Have you been kicking around an idea for a project forever? Maybe even bought some of the parts for it? Or, have you been wanting to get more into making, but can’t even figure out where to start? The Make-a-thon is for you!!
Bring your project idea and supplies OR just yourself, and we’ll make stuff in teams, then high five each other.
Should I RSVP?
If you can, and also actually come. Otherwise, we will cry. Do it here.
What are the rules?
THE RULES ARE SIMPLE
– You have four hours
– You can work individually or in teams
– Make ANYTHING (feel free to plan your effort and assemble materials in advance, but your principle work must occur during the 4 hour period. Bring your own materials, or use our cardboard, extra yarn, fabric, etc.)
– Present what you made
– We all vote to declare a winner (ok, so far we have been having too much fun to stop in time to do this…)
How much does it cost?
It’s completely FREE! With dinner, snacks, and beverages provided. BUT Donations are GREATLY appreciated to help us continue to have these each month!
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
All ages are welcome!
I’m not a techie. Can I come?
YES! We encourage you to make ANYTHING. Knit or crochet something, do a papercraft project, or build a cardboard robot. The whole point is to see what you can accomplish in 4 hours. And it’s really fun to try something new!
What if I don’t have a project? Can I still come?
We highly encourage people to come even without a project in mind. You get to meet everyone, have pizza, and see what it’s all about. “Make Anything” includes making friends. Plus, we can help you find a project to jump in on, or you can just check out the makerspace!
