Low-Cost, beginner battle bots! Ok, right now they are closer to sumo bots, since we can’t afford a big battlebox to contain the mayhem. Goals.
$35 one-time entrance fee. This fee will include the base kit, plus a little extra to go toward an arena and eventually a battlebox. (though it will take a lot more than $10 each to get the battlebox we want…so someday…) You do NOT HAVE to use the parts in your base kit.
What? I don’t need to use those parts? Then why do I have to get them?? Because we want you to use them. You may spend an additional $50 if you want, to replace or upgrade your robot kit. But that’s the limit. We can address changing this at some point if needed, but this is where we are starting. This should hopefully provide those that want to power up their bots some leeway, while not making it completely uncompetitive.
We are just starting the club, so we are still working out the details. We will usually meet on the third Sunday of the month. You don’t need to commit to every month. The only cost is for the kit and arena, you do not need to buy a ticket every week.
The kits take about a month to arrive, and we need the $ in advance. We may have a couple extra kits on-hand, but be sure to ask.
You can find the list of the base parts here: ***Base kit will not include batteries. 6 AA batteries will be required.**** https://github.com/jmalins/BattleBot-Control/blob/master/README.md
During the club time, we work on our robots, then do some driving/fighting at the end. That’s the hope, anyway.
Ages 16+, younger kids welcome with parent or older sibling.
We will meet once a month (generally the 3rd Sunday…no meeting in August) to work on our bots then end with a battle (we can’t use serious weapons until we get the battlebox built). Our first meetings will involve getting our rules set. We can order parts for you (prepaid only, and they take awhile to get here), or you can order your own. Come join the fun!
Bring 6 AA batteries for your robot. We recommend rechargeable ones.
Refund policy: We currently do not offer refunds or transfers between classes. You may, however, transfer your ticket to another person who is 18 or older. If you need help finding someone to take your spot, you are welcome to post in the class event on our Facebook page, or ask us to share your email address with the class waitlist.
For your personal safety, please wear closed-toe shoes, tie long hair back, and avoid any dangling jewelry or baggy clothing.
You do not need to bring a printed ticket.
